The variety of this device that’s been popular lately is the solar-powered attic ventilator. Using the sun to make the electricity for this fan, however, makes it only marginally better than its grid-powered cousin.

FutureWorld Energy's new CoolSolar series A/C systems cover up to 30% of this demand using a solar panel which is mounted next to the outdoor unit or on the roof of the building, the company said.
